British Actor, John Mahoney, Dies In Chicago Hospital At 77 Years Old
Hollywood mourns another loss. A famous American actor, John Mahoney, known by playing a family patriarch Martin Crane on the NBC comedy “Frasier”, died on Sunday, February 4th after beating cancer twice.

The British actor,77, was born in 1940 in Blackpool, Lancashire, England. He started his career on stage but then moved to film and television. For his role in “Fraser”, he was nominated for an Emmy award and for two Golden Globe awards. Mahoney appeared on big screen playing roles in films, like Moonstruck, Tin Men, and Say Anything.

The actor’s death was confirmed by his publicist on Monday. He said:
I am sad to confirm the Sunday, February 4th death of actor John Mahoney after a short illness in Chicago, Illinois. The family will issue a statement at a later date.

Kelsey Grammer, who played Mahoney’s son in “Fraser” for 11 years, provided a concise but heartfelt response to his death:
He was my father. I loved him.

John Mahoney was also remembered by his co-star Jane Leeves, who played Daphne Moon on the NBC sitcom. She said:
John was the dearest sweetest man I have ever known. His wicked sense of humor, usually whispered in your ear or spoken just loud enough that only you could hear could bring you to tears. And his smile. Oh my god. He was lit from within.

Among Mahoney’s many mourners was John Cusack, who played with Mahoney in the 1989 film, Say Anything.
