Bo Derek Wanted To Be A Mom, But It Didn't Happen. What Stopped Her From Having A Child?
Bo Derek seems to have a picture-perfect life. A handsome partner – Sex and the City star John Corbett, a ranch in Southern California, beloved German shepherds and horses, a prolific career as an actress and model… What’s more to wish for? But it looks like something is missing from the picture.

Bo doesn’t have children. Back in 1980, she told People she wanted to have kids, but she never did. Why did she change her mind?
Bo on not having children
Before Bo met her current partner, she was married to filmmaker John Derek until his passing in 1998. They were together for more than two decades, and Bo met him when she was a teen.
She and John considered having children, but somehow the time always wasn’t right and work always got in the way. On top of that, Bo didn’t feel like she was ready to be a mom. She said in a 2000 interview with Larry King:

I thought I [wanted to have children], and then when it came time – you know, the – my clock was ticking. And I thought, OK, now it’s time I should get around to doing this. Then I thought I really didn’t necessarily have that drive and that desire to have a child that I think you should have. And I wasn’t ready to make the commitment.
Bo also had another concern: as her husband was 30 years her senior, she was afraid she would have to raise a child alone. Besides, he already had two children from his previous marriage, so she didn’t feel like she had to have kids.
What about adoption?
Bo and John Corbett, her partner since 2002, don’t have kids from their previous relationships. But they are open to the possibility of adopting a child one day.

Speaking to Access Hollywood, John said once he cuts down on work and has more time to be at home, he and Bo may consider welcoming a child and becoming a family.
But for now, it’s still just a thought.
