2017 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Features Many Famous Personalities

Following the tradition, the First Family lights the main Christmas tree of the country in Washington, DC. The official ceremony is followed by spectacular performances, live music, and fabulous fireworks.

The tradition has nearly a 100-year-long history. Back in 1923, the 30th President of the U.S. Calvin Coolidge lighted the very first National Christmas Tree. Since then, President’s Park witnessed this special moment every year. Today, it is one of the most important and beautiful American holiday traditions.

In 2017, the main hosts of the night are Dean Cain and Kathie Lee Gifford. Dean Cain, 51, is a Hollywood actor who is well-known for playing Superman in a popular TV series Lois & Clark.

His colleague for the night, Kathie Lee Gifford, 64, is one of the hosts of NBC’s Today morning show.

The ceremony also features numerous entertainers, starting from the military bands to the world-famous singers. In particular, Craig Campbell and Wynonna will perform during the night.

The main festivities take place at President’s Park on November 30th, 2017. Traditionally, there was a special lottery for tickets to the event. Those who did not get to attend the great ceremony in person can watch it later on TV. Hallmark Channel broadcasts the magic moment of lighting the main Christmas Tree of the nation on December 4th, 2017.
