Who says love fades with time? After five years of marriage, the Hawaii Five-O star Alex O’Loughlin is still in love with his model and surfer wife Malia Jones.

Alex and Malia’s love story

The couple met via mutual friends when Malia had just moved home from Sydney and Alex relocated to Hawaii to begin working on Hawaii Five-O. According to the model, it was love at first sight.

The actor and model made their official red-carpet debut as a couple at the 9th Annual G’Day USA Los Angeles Black Tie Gala back in January 2012. By October 2012, O’Loughlin and Malia welcomed their first child together, a son Lion.

On April 18, 2014, O’Loughlin quietly got married to Malia in Hawaii. They both have one child from previous relationships.

The actor has a son, Saxon, while Malia also has a son, Spike. Alex and his family currently live in Hawaii, where he films Hawaii Five-O.

Alex O’Loughlin’s life

Born in Canberra, Australia, the actor was once a serious contender for the role of James Bond. He is famous for his role as Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett on Hawaii Five-O, which he has been playing for the past eight years.

In 1997, O’Loughlin’s had a child with his girlfriend at the time. He later dated Holly Valance, an Australian singer and actress. The two got separated in 2009, after many years together.

The 42-year-old actor is also an ambassador for Donate Life America, a not for profit alliance of national organizations.

From surfer to swimwear designer and mom

The camera has loved Malia since she was a teenager catching waves at Rocky Point. Daily surfing became the norm for Malia and her three younger brothers after her family had moved to the North Shore.

At the age of 15, O’Loughlin’s wife won the U.S. Women’s Amateur Surfing Championship. She had turned pro by 16. Then, the modeling world came knocking.

In 2009, her move back to Hawaii after the birth of her oldest son officially began the next chapter in her career — she set about developing her swimwear label.

The 42-year-old still slips in an occasional gig every now and then, but modeling has taken a back seat to family life of a wife and mom of two. Malia credits O’Loughlin, who, she says, is her line’s biggest supporter.
