But her personal life is just as inspiring as her on-screen performance. In 2016, Caterina became a mom for the second time. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Paloma Michaela.
Paloma was born with Down syndrome, but Scorsone celebrates her little miracle and often posts adorable snaps of her on Instagram.
Recently, Caterina shared an important message in order to educate people about Down syndrome children.
Supporting Down syndrome awareness month
Grey’s Anatomy star took to her Instagram profile to share important statistics about kids born with the genetic condition in honor of Down syndrome awareness month.
Caterina’s message is inspiring parents to not see their children as a curse, but be grateful for them:
1 in 700 babies is born with Down syndrome. Language is important. Parents don’t have a 1 in 700 “RISK” of having a baby with Down syndrome. Parents have a 1 in 700 CHANCE of having a baby with Down syndrome, just like they have a 50 percent CHANCE of having a girl and a 50 percent CHANCE of having a boy.
Seeing how happy Scorsone is with Paloma, makes our heart warm for such a beautiful family.
Little Paloma is indeed an adorable and lovely baby. Caterina’s love for her baby girl is an inspiration to us all.
Scorsone practices breastfeeding
Considering benefits of breastfeeding, Caterina is still nursing her 2-year-old Paloma. It’s very rare for a working actress because most celebrity women choose to stop breastfeeding early, or even not do it at all, to preserve their figures.
Scorsone is definitely an amazing mother and Paloma is a beautiful baby. Blessings to both of them!
